33rd Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot in Vienna
The 33rd Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot brought together the international arbitration community, and Hanefeld is proud to be part of it.
For us, the Vis Moot is more than an annual event. It is a community we have been part of for years – as coaches, hosts, speakers, and supporters of the next generation of international arbitration practitioners. This year in Vienna was no different:
-
Nicole Grohmann moderated a fireside chat for YAWP - Young ArbitralWomen Practitioners and ArbitralWomen, interviewing Patrizia Netal on what it really takes to build a practice in this field, and the role the Moot community plays in shaping careers.
-
Edward L. Rensmann joined the YIAG (Young International Arbitration Group) meets Vis panel to damages and exemptions under the CISG.
-
Dr Christian Johannes Wahnschaffe delivered the Welcome Address at the Annual Moot Alumni Association International Commercial Law & Arbitration Conference.
-
Together with Mannheimer Swartling, we co-hosted our Nordic Breakfast – an opportunity for practitioners from the Nordic region to connect over a traditional Viennese breakfast. Given both firms' strong ties to the region, this has become a cherished tradition during our Vis week.
-
For the fourth time, HANEFELD hosted the Africa in the Moot Breakfast – bringing together students, alumni, coaches, and supporters of an initiative we deeply admire. Africa in the Moot is doing vital work in supporting African law students in international arbitration and strengthening the teaching of international commercial law, and we are honoured to play a small part in that.
Thank you to everyone who joined us across these events. And to all the students who competed this year – the dedication and quality on display was exceptional. We look forward to seeing where your careers take you.
Until next year, Vienna!
